Short Wave – Somewhere in France – 1993 (?)
Another one of those “mystery cassettes” that had nothing written on the label. Didier’s opening announcement indicates that this took place in France (or possibly Belgium), and the setlist would place it in 1993, possibly 1992 although I’m not sure they were already playing “The Fox” that early. What is particularly intriguing is the resurrected “Circle Line” from the Soft Heap days as a prelude to “Partout”, a unique instance in the archive to date. It’s cool to hear those opening bass harmonics again! Be warned, though, that while soundboard in origin, the cassette shows its age, with some wow and flutter throughout.
Didier Malherbe – tenor sax & flute
Phil Miller – guitar & guitar-synth
Hugh Hopper – bass
Pip Pyle – drums
