The lineup of Phil Miller’s band In Cahoots changed gradually over its long lifetime (1982 – 2010).
In November 1982 the original lineup was a quartet with Phil guitar, Richard Sinclair bass guitar, Elton Dean saxes and Pip Pyle drums.
In March 1983 In Cahoots became a quintet when Pete Lemer joined the lineup on keyboards.
1984 Richard Sinclair left the band in August.
1985 Hugh Hopper took his place on bass guitar.
In 1987 Pete Lemer left and Steve Franklin became the keyboard player.
1988 saw Hugh Hopper leave the band to be replaced by Fred Thelonious Baker.
1989 saw InCahoots with Phil, Fred, Elton and Pip working as a quartet without without keyboards.
In April 1991 Jim Dvorak joined In Cahoots on trumpet and they became a quintet again.
December 1991 Pete Lemer rejoined In Cahoots for a Japanese tour.
in March 1994 In Cahoots went to France as a quintet without Pete Lemer.
In December ’95 January ’96 In Cahoots resumed activities as a quintet.
1997 In Cahoots gigged in Holland and England as a quintet.
In 1998 they worked as a quartet in France Patrice Meyer guesting and as a quartet in Liege , Brussels as a quartet.
In September In Cahoots toured as a sextet in England but Jim had to leave the tour after a couple of dates for family reasons so they played the rest of the dates as a quintet.
In November they do a second series of UK dates with Jim back as a septet.
In December they went back to Japan for The Love Generatiom festival in Tokyo as a septet.
January 1002 Pip leaves and Mark Fletcher takes his place in August and in 2003 they plated as a sextet in Seattle. 2003 They recorded the CD All That as a septet.
2005 Hatfield reformed and they did a World Tour.
In March Elton and Jim had gone and In Cahoots had a new lineup:a quintet with Phil, Fred, Fletch, Simon Finch trumpet and Theo Travis tenor sax and flute
They were joined in July by Simon Picard to make a sextet.
In October 2007 Sarah Gail Brand joins In Cahoots for the Elton Dean memorial gig.
in 2007 they played Kendal as a sextet: Phil, Pete, Fred, Fletch. Simon Picard and Gail Brand.
In 2009 for a series of gigs & recording sessions for Mind Over Matter which was Phil’s last CD the sextet was Phil, Pete, Fred and Fletcher plus newcomers Paul Booth (tenor & soprano sax) and Mark Armstrong (trumpet & flugelhorn).
