First Set

I was recently sent this recording by fellow fan Pierre Tassone, of Music By Mail mail-order in Denmark, who was intrigued by it being labelled as being from the Villebon-sur-Yvette gig from 1998 yet bearing little resemblance to the download of said gig available on this site. A little investigative work determined that, once put in the right order, the files actually had the missing first set, along with part of the second. The gig did seem a bit short, we now know why! Of course what makes this performance unique is the presence of Patrice Meyer sitting in with the sextet, a unique occasion (at least that we have a recording of), but both tracks with Patrice were in the second set, so no further examples of that, but that’s still a full extra set from possibly the best loved incarnation of the group. The sound quality isn’t the best, at least compared to our source for the second set, and there are a couple of missing bits, but it’s a welcome complement to our documentation of this unique IC gig.
