Here are some words about this recording from our friend Hag (Ian Hargreaves) who was present at the time.
“On the evening of 14th May 1998 we had a K.Ostra rehearsal as we did every Thursday at St Johns. I wrote….’A sombre night at K.Ostra. But some good music played’. I am sure the sombre comment referred to Steve’s situation at this time as we were all well aware of his medical situation. This recording by Steve Lane at St Johns Ark in Old Harlow earlier that day I imagine because Steve Miller loved the baby grand piano they had in a wonderful natural acoustic setting. This I am sure was a rehearsal for their forthcoming gig at The Vortex on 28th June 1998 with Carol Grimes, Lol Coxhill, Fred Baker and Pip Pyle. That gig was Steve Miller’s last public performance.”
