This is Hugh Hopper’s composition Shuffle Demons performed by Short Wave (Hugh, Didier Malherbe, Phil Miller and Pip Pyle) at Gong’s 25th Birthday celebrations in London, October 1994. The video is audience shot and was (mostly successfully) extracted from a corrupted file I had on a DVD of archive stuff, while the audio comes from a partial soundboard cassette Pip had lent me many moons ago. I have more or less managed to synchronise the two sources. The result is a rare document of this late period Canterbury all-star band. (I had made a previous attempt that is still visible somewhere on the Net a few years ago, but this has better video and is the complete track).
