Phil and Fred at the Travers in Bruxelles April 25th 1995

Following up from the Rippongi Pitt Inn performance of the Miller-Baker Duo, reviewed by Doug Boyle that we published previously, I thought it was a good opportunity to revisit their performance at the Travers Club in Belgium four years later. Aymeric laments that “Their CD Double Up was sadly destined to never have a follow-up” (events proved you wrong there, Aymeric!) and his reference to  Adagio “of which a later studio recording is known to exist”. We did eventually find that recording with many others, hidden in plain sight in Phil’s studio: They were recorded on what Fred and I thought were old video tapes but were in fact ADAT tapes on which Phil had recorded the Duo on the many occasions that Fred and Phil had worked out numbers in his studio, and which appear on the posthumous CD Double Up 2.
